Iowa State University Expands Its Use of Centric Software's Design-Build Solution for AEC-Acquires Unlimited License, Will Make Solution Available To Other State Schools

Centric Software announced today that Iowa State University has expanded its use of Centric's Design-Build solution by acquiring an unlimited seat license in order to offer access to the facilities departments at The University of Iowa and The University of Northern Iowa.

Iowa's state universities are facing the challenge of managing costs while continuing to move forward with capital improvements to their campus and facilities. While staffing levels within the capital construction program have not been cut, they also have not expanded at the same rate as the number of capital construction projects.

Iowa State University is currently managing their entire capital construction program using Centric's Design-Build solution. More than 900 people are working on 140 separate projects with a combined capital budget exceeding $300 million. Iowa State has been able to efficiently manage project information, coordinate distributed stakeholders, resolve issues quickly and deliver projects on schedule and on budget. Based on this success, and as part of the ongoing initiative to share best practices, Iowa State decided to acquire an unlimited license and offer the facilities departments at The University of Iowa and The University of Northern Iowa access to Centric's Design-Build solution.

"We thought that other schools in the Board of Regents, State of Iowa system could benefit from the adoption of Centric's Design-Build solution, so we decided to make seats available to them," said Iowa State University Architect A. Dean Morton. "We are all trying to handle more projects with limited resources and this collaboration tool can play a major role in your ability to deliver projects on time and on budget."

"Centric's Design-Build provides a platform to standardize critical project information and enables that information to manage the execution activities and risk across a diverse set of project types," said Chris Groves, chief executive officer of Centric Software. "Clearly, Iowa State has had success using our solution and we are gratified that, as part of their best practices initiative, they have decided to make the software available to their sister schools."
