Bentley Announces New Electrical Engineering Design Solution for Building Industry; BIM Solution Now Complete for Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing

At this gathering of more than 2,000 attendees, Bentley Systems, Incorporated announced Bentley Building Electrical Systems. Developed in partnership with elcoSystems UK, the new software will address the electrical system design and management needs of consulting engineers, contractors, owners, and facility managers in the building industry.

"Bentley Building Electrical Systems is a solution that those in the building industry have long awaited," says Brad Workman, vice president of Bentley Building. "Today's sophisticated building designs demand an ever-increasing multitude of complex electrical subsystems - driven by growing market expectations as well as industry and government standards. Bentley's Building Electrical Systems has the potential to make a significant difference to users in this industry, reducing design times and improving project quality and profitability."

Bentley Building Electrical Systems will meet the rapidly escalating demands of electrical installations for commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities. It provides for the design, engineering, documentation, analysis, and management of building electrical systems, including lighting, power, fire detection, security, communications, and other building subsystems.

The new software completes the mechanical/electrical/plumbing (M/E/P) solution for Bentley Building and complements, and is fully integrated with, Bentley Architecture and Bentley Structural. As a result, it provides a comprehensive BIM solution for the building industry to enable architects and engineers to build as one. Key design and document production features include automated symbol placement, circuiting, and labeling; raceway design; cable/circuit routing and management; and automated generation of riser diagrams and drawing legends. Powerful reporting capabilities include schedules, bills of materials, quantity take-offs, and cost estimation.

Design analysis is easy using the software's bidirectional interfaces to a variety of industry-standard power engineering and lighting design and analysis programs. Based on MicroStation and supporting 2D and 3D workflows, step-wise refinement of the design process, and BIM methodology, Bentley Building Electrical Systems provides users with a flexible and extensible solution for building electrical systems design and documentation.

Bentley Building Electrical Systems is offered as either a single-user license or as a part of the Bentley SELECT and Enterprise License Subscription (ELS) program. Commercial availability for Bentley Building Electrical Systems is scheduled for the third quarter of this year.
