University of Erlangen-Nuremberg Implements First Educational MasterKey License System in Europe

MSC.Software Corp . announced that the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and the Regional Computing Center (RRZE) have signed the first MSC.MasterKey license agreement by a university customer in Europe. The agreement includes access to MSC.Software's SimOffice products MSC.ADAMS, MSC.Nastran, MSC.Patran, and MSC.Marc, which can be all accessed and used via the flexible token based MasterKey License System. Students of different university departments, including engineering, material science, engineering mechanics, quality management, engineering design, production engineering, and systems engineering can now take advantage of the breadth and depth of MSC.Software tools for research and science within a single, cross-campus licensing system.

"The education of future designers and engineers is very important for MSC.Software and a key focus of our educational sales and training activities," said Frank Perna, chairman and chief executive officer of MSC.Software. "We opened the MSC.MasterKey system to universities around the world in the last half of 2004 and I am very pleased that we are already starting to have success implementing more of our technologies across more university departments, classes and research teams. We are committed to ensuring that graduating engineers are proficient in VPD technologies and we look forward to working with the professors and students who are using MSC.Software technologies via MSC.MasterKey."

"We are very happy with the MasterKey license System from MSC.Software because it really meets our needs," said Dipl.-Ing. Hans Cramer, Director of the regional computing center (RRZE). "We at the RRZE serve several universities in the region of Northern Bavaria, all of them with many different departments in the engineering field. Our students need to get familiar with CAE and VPD products, and this can only be done by offering them a broad base of many types of software. We appreciate the MSC.MasterKey license system offering this broad range of solutions at a convenient pricing scheme for universities as well as the consultation we are receiving from our software partner. We feel that MSC.Software really speaks our language and expect our students' research to benefit greatly from the new possibilities."

The Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg secured a leading place among the German universities in the German Research Foundation (DFG) rankings and attracted a large number of Humboldt scholars, who have chosen the university as the place to pursue their research.
