Exa® Corporation Licenses HOOPS® framework From TSA for PowerCASET

Exa Corporation, developer of computer-aided engineering (CAE) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software and services along with Tech Soft America (TSA), a provider of component graphics technology to the CAD/CAM/CAE industry, announced a licensing agreement where Exa has leveraged TSA's HOOPS 3D Application Framework (HOOPS/3dAF) to power new graphics capabilities in their latest releases of PowerCASE and the complementary PowerEXPORTT and PowerPREPT applications.

Jamie Hoch, vice president of Software Development for Exa Corporation stated, "Exa develops a wide range of software to complement our core CFD technology, including several 3D geometry and visualization tools. High-level, high performance components such as HOOPS/3dAF allow us to quickly deliver rich 3D solutions to our customers, and free us to focus our resources on advancing our unique CFD technology"

Ron Fritz, managing partner for TSA added, "Efficient, focused companies such as Exa continue to be attracted to HOOPS/3dAF as a reliable and robust core technology for building sophisticated applications like PowerCASE. We're always excited to see HOOPS-powered products like Exa PowerCASE hit the market."

HOOPS/3dAF is an extensible, high-level component that simplifies the design, development and maintenance of high-performance, interactive 2D/3D applications for Windows, UNIX, LINUX, MAC OS X, Windows CE devices or the Web. Companies such as Autodesk, Bentley/Infrasoft, SolidWorks, PTC, MSC.Software, Fluent, Numeca, IronCAD, KubotekUSA, Proficiency, LK and over 175 others license HOOPS technology to help them build better engineering software products faster.

PowerFLOW, Exa's flagship product, is an accurate, fast and easy-to-use software solution for CAE fluid flow problems, suitable for wide range of applications and markets. PowerFLOW provides time-accurate as well as steady-state results for realistic transient behavior simulations, leading to better functional designs. PowerFLOW accurately simulates complex external and internal fluid flows and is capable of also providing aeroacoustic and thermal results.

Currently installed at over 80% of the worldwide automotive manufacturers, Exa PowerFLOW's extensive capabilities are enabling engineers and designers to truly collaborate early in the development process and build better cars faster.

Exa Corporation develops, markets, and supports a full suite of CFD and CAE pre and post-processing software tools including PowerFLOW®, PowerCLAY®, PowerWRAPT, PowerVIZ® and PowerSPECTRUMT along with professional engineering consulting services. A partial customer list includes: Audi AG, BMW AG, Daimler-Chrysler, Fiat, FKFS, Ford, Hyundai, Jaguar, Kenworth, Nissan, PSA Peugeot Citroen, Renault, SEAT, and Volkswagen AG.

Founded in 1991, the company is headquartered at 3 Burlington Woods Drive, Burlington, MA, USA 01803. Tel: 1.781.676.8500; Fax: 1.781.676.8599; Email: info@exa.com ; URL: http://www.exa.com .
