Rules-Driven Product Management Benefits Engineer-to-Order Manufacturers as Customer Success Data Grows
Results for several rules-driven product management (RPM) engagements led by RuleStream Corporation outline several benefits resulting from RPM implementations in engineer-to-order operations.
RuleStream's RPM solutions have helped clients achieve:
• Reduction of lead times by up to 60 percent
• Increase of sales win rates by 20 percent
• Reduction of engineering costs by 75 percent
• Decrease in design times by 80 percent
• Elimination of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and work stoppages by 95 percent

Rules-driven product management (RPM) was more visible than ever during the first quarter of 2005, according to RuleStream. RPM is an emerging category of enterprise software that allows discrete manufacturers to automate sales, engineering and manufacturing processes, resulting in the ability to respond to customer-specific orders more rapidly, accurately and cost-effectively.
RPM was the subject of in-depth reports from CIMdata and Tech-Clarity, and was highlighted in articles appearing in publications including Manufacturing Business Technology, IEN, Machine Design, Managing Automation and Design News.
RuleStream and its customers actively participated in several industry shows, including National Manufacturing Week, ASME Power 2005 and SolidWorks World 2005. In addition to adding Everbrite to its customer list, RuleStream also highlighted two other new customers-Fresno Valves and CampbellRhea-who have recently adopted RPM to streamline their ETO operations.
RuleStream also announced the appointment of Rick Smith and Bernard Pezzimenti to new positions in the company during the first quarter-Rick Smith was promoted to vice president, professional services, and Bernard Pezzimenti was appointed vice president, research and development.
