Implementation Investments

Moving Forward with Intentia EAM

Intentia International AB announced the planned deployment of its enterprise asset management (EAM) solution for UK-based Weir Services. Part of The Weir Group PLC, Weir Services is a leading global provider of equipment maintenance, process support and asset management.

Running Intentia's Java-based solution on an IBM i5 Server, the new deployment will provide Weir Services with integration across a broad range of system capabilities. It will enable operational data to be captured in real time, giving greater visibility initially for 350 users across its facilities in the UK and the Middle East. There are also plans to extend this worldwide following the already successful implementation in North America.

The new fully integrated system will provide a total solution across the company in areas that include MRO service activities. These include total vendor maintenance, CRM, project management, supply chain processes, financial activities, resource and material planning, and product data management. By implementing a centralized system, Weir will experience true integration and synchronization of processes, technology and people.

John Hill, Project Manager, Weir Services, comments, "Our service organization operates in an asset-intensive business. It is important to choose the right corporate system across our key business processes to help us ensure that effective decisions are made throughout the complete asset life cycle-from specification and design, procurement and deployment, to maintenance and disposal. This, in turn, helps us provide the best proactive and preventative maintenance for our customers."

The project started in December 2004 and will be completed in August 2005.
