Calypto Rounds Out Management Team With Senior Marketing And Sales Talent

Calypto Design Systems, Inc ., a company bridging system and RTL design, announced the additions of key executives. Michael Sanie who will serve as vice president of marketing and business development, and Larry Lapides who will serve as vice president of sales. The two join CEO Devadas Varma, vice president of engineering Gagan Hasteer, and chief architect Anmol Mathur to round out an experienced team.

Calypto's original executive team consisted of a group of strong technologists who have successfully initiated and led successful product development and introductions. CEO Devadas Varma, a former Cadence fellow, has previously held CTO and senior engineering positions at Ambit, Viewlogic, and Mentor Graphics. Gagan Hasteer, Calypto vice president of engineering, most recently served as director of engineering for Innologic System prior to their acquisition by Synopsys. Finally, Anmol Mathur, Calypto chief architect, was the architect of the Cadence datapath synthesis engine and served on an award-winning tools development team at the MIPS division of SGI.

The team was joined in 2004 by Michael Sanie, vice president of marketing and business development, who previously was group director of industry initiatives at Cadence and director of marketing and business development for IC design at Numerical Technologies. He has also held marketing and technical positions at Actel, Compass Design Automation and VLSI Technologies.

Larry Lapides, vice president of sales, joins Calypto from Verisity where he served as vice president of worldwide sales, building their pre-IPO sales channel and driving their post-IPO revenue growth. Prior to Verisity, he built sales teams for Surefire Verification and Exemplar Logic.

Founded in 2002, Calypto Design Systems enables IC design teams to bridge the system-to-RTL design gap. The company delivers software products to leading edge semiconductor and systems companies worldwide. Calypto is privately held, with venture funding from Infineon Ventures, JAFCO Ventures, Tallwood Venture Capital and Walden International. The company is a member of the Cadence Connections program, IEEE-SA, the Open SystemC Initiative (OSCI), Synopsys SystemVerilog Catalyst Program, and has an ongoing alliance with the Model Technologies group of Mentor Graphics.
