Intergraph Announces Keynote Headliners at APEX 2005 Client Events
The Process, Power & Marine division of Intergraph Corporation announced the keynote headliners of its APEX Shanghai and APEX New Orleans client conferences. Robert A. McNamara, industrial group president of Fluor Corporation, leads the keynote lineup at APEX Shanghai, scheduled July 11-13 at the Pudong Shangri-La Hotel, Shanghai, China. D. Michael Abrashoff, author of "It's Your Ship," commands the keynote roster at APEX New Orleans, set for August 22-24 at the Hotel InterContinental, New Orleans, La., USA. Robert McNamara addresses the challenges facing companies executing large capital projects in a dynamic global environment. For engineering contractors, risk is increasing as global projects continue to grow in size and complexity. In this changing business environment, many contractors are creating joint ventures to execute projects, due to regulatory requirements or the need to carry out multiple projects.
McNamara, with nearly 20 years of executive and project management experience, is a board member of the U.S./China Business Council, a board member for a U.S. and Japanese semiconductor equipment manufacturer and has served as chairman of the Construction Industry Institute's Technology Impact Task Force. He is a graduate of Brown University.
Author of "It's Your Ship" and former commander of the guided missile destroyer USS Benfold, Mike Abrashoff brings exceptional lessons of command to the business arena. Abrashoff advocates that leadership is a process that can be taught, that two-way communication is essential to success and that true leaders empower people to solve problems themselves. Serving as the youngest commanding officer in the U. S. Navy Pacific Fleet at age 36, Abrashoff transformed the USS Benfold into one of the best-performing ships in the Navy.
During his distinguished U. S. Navy career, Abrashoff served in sea command as well as senior administrative roles, including tours as military assistant to the secretary of defense and in the Bureau of Naval Personnel. Abrashoff is a 1982 graduate of the U. S. Naval Academy at Annapolis.
