Engineering PLM Solutions Receives SolidWorks Solution Partner Status for its EDM Product Suite

Engineering PLM Solutions announced that it will demonstrate its entire EDM Product Suite at the seventh annual SolidWorks World 2005 Conference, being held from January 30th - February 2nd , 2005 in Orlando, Florida.

The EDM Product Suite, which recently received the status of SolidWorks ® Solution Partner product, is a set of stand-alone yet interoperable solutions to help computer aided design (CAD) users in four different areas: product configuration, part classification, PDM and task automation. The EDM Product Suite is a set of PLM applications that, by capturing the rules on how companies define, design, produce and sell their products, allow CAD users to concentrate on their preferred activity: designing innovative and successful products. EDM simplifies and automates process and product configuration, attributes and part numbers definition, vaulting, ECOs and all the repetitive and time consuming tasks, such as drawing, printing, file conversion, PDF creation and more.

Based on the concept of capturing a company's know-how through rules, the EDM Product Suite can automate many of the activities that CAD users experience when they design new products. Allowing them to concentrate on the design process itself, rather than spending hours filling in product information is the primary benefit of the EDM Product Suite. Users can access the EDM Product Suite directly from within the SolidWorks 2005 user interface.

The modular packaging of EDM allows companies of any size to benefit from its functionalities. As an example, engineers and designers can use EDM and SolidWorks to automate the generation of part numbers for every new component, and be guided by a simple user interface in the definition of the attributes that are relevant for specific categories. Company standards can be defined and rules can be set to automate the attributes assignment in order to minimize user input and reduce the possibilities for errors.
