Boyd Coffee Company to Streamline Supply Chain With IFS Business
Continuing its momentum in the food and beverage industry, IFS announced that Boyd Coffee Company of Portland, Oregon, has signed a contract to implement IFS ApplicationsT business software. The company will use IFS' industry-specific solution for food and beverage to streamline its supply chain and enhance productivity.
Boyd Coffee Company is a leading manufacturer of specialty coffees, espresso, rare estate coffees, teas, and related equipment for restaurants and other food service operations worldwide.
"We hired the consulting firm Steady Improvement, Inc., to help us with selection and to work with the IFS project manager to manage our end of the implementation," said John Gillam, Vice President of Business Effectiveness for Boyd Coffee Company. "Starting with company-wide APICS fundamental and lean manufacturing education, we mapped our processes, which led to a list of key functional requirements. We chose IFS because they met or exceeded those requirements in every area while providing outstanding references.
"IFS Applications will enable us to enhance lot control and production planning, implement constraint-based scheduling, and provide a corporate-wide integrated information system for the very first time. In the long run, we expect IFS to make a substantial contribution to our continuous improvement initiatives."
"Boyd Coffee Company has a worldwide reputation for high-quality coffee products, and we're pleased that they have chosen to join other leading companies in selecting IFS' food and beverage solution," said Cindy Jaudon, president of IFS North America. "IFS offers a proven solution that makes it easier for food and beverage companies to more accurately match supply to demand for perishable goods. Our software package supports all critical business processes, including lot/batch control, recipe management, constraint-based scheduling, quality control, and customer relationship management."
The process industry is one of IFS' targeted market segments. IFS provides industry-specific support for enterprises in the pulp and paper, metal, paint and adhesive, food and beverage, and pharmaceutical industry segments. IFS' solutions for asset and product lifecycle management, enabling optimal utilization of heavy investments in plant and equipment, are at the core of IFS Applications for the process industry.
IFS customers in the food and beverage industry include Pepsi Shanghi, The Iams Co., Kettle Foods, Tazo Tea, Harry's Fresh Foods, Apffels Coffee, and Canbra Foods. Other process industry customers include Willamette Valley Co., Jotun, SICPA, ANI Printing Inks, and SCA.
