CAD/CAM Components Releases GW3DFeatures Fully Integrated Surfacing Modeling Software for SolidWorks® 2005

CAD/CAM Components, Inc . (3Ci), a developer of surface modeling software and a SolidWorks® Gold Partner, announces the release of GW3DFeatures 5.0, the first parametric surfacing modeling software to offer spine-driven design and G3 surfacing capabilities to the SolidWorks user community. The company is also releasing GeometryWorks3D Version 3.2 upgrade to current users.

GW3DFeatures 5.0 offers a new user interface that is identical to menus in SolidWorks 2005. The software's familiar look and feel makes it much easier for new users to learn. The software also contains functions that are only associative within SolidWorks 2004 and 2005 in addition to functions enabled by the SolidWorks 2005 API.

"The new seamless user interface of GW3DFeatures operates as a native SolidWorks feature so the features in GW3DFeatures now operate and function in the same manner as the geometry and solids creation tools inside of SolidWorks," says Robert Jones, CEO of CAD/CAM Components, Inc. "This new functionality enables the user to create more complex contour surfaces and curves faster and easier without ever leaving SolidWorks."

GW3DFeatures also provides users with the ability to create blended surfaces and curves with 3rd order continuity (G3). G3 continuity makes it possible to blend surfaces and curves so that the rate of change of the surface normals is maintained from one surface to the next. Another innovative new feature is the software's capability to create spine-driven entities. Spines allow additional control over the creation of sweep surfaces, blend surfaces, and offset curves.

Additional GW3DFeatures capabilities:

Solids:

•  Helix Solid

•  Cylinder Wrap Tube Solid

•  Tube Solid

•  Swept Solid

Surfaces:

•  Helix Tube

•  Cylinder Wrap Surface

•  Cylinder Wrap Tube

•  Tube Surface

•  Revolve3D Surface

•  Tapered Offset Surface

•  Blanket Surface

•  Blend Surface

•  Multi-Blend Surface

•  Swept Surface

Curves:

•  Helix Spline

•  Cylinder Wrap Spline

•  Offset Curve

•  Blend Curve

GeometryWorks3D Version 3.2 Upgrade

GeometryWorks3D Version 3.2 contains all of the functions developed over the last five years, both associative and non-associative. It is recommended to run GeometryWorks3D Version 3.2 non-parametric features with Version 5.0 until replaced by GW3Dtoolbox available in the near future.
