Mentor Graphics Announces Synthesis Support for ProASIC3 and ProASIC3E Families
Mentor Graphics Corporation announced that its suite of advanced synthesis products has added support for Actel Corporation's newly introduced ProASIC3T and ProASIC3ET field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). Users of the Precision® RTL Synthesis tool from Mentor Graphics can now immediately request software updates to design the full range of new devices.
"Advanced synthesis support from Mentor Graphics for our new ProASIC3/E families is important to us," said Dennis Kish, vice president of marketing at Actel. "Our new devices deliver advanced features such as 64-bit, 66-MHz PCI performance and on-chip user flash memory. We have closely collaborated in testing efforts for both Precision® Synthesis and Leonardo®Spectrum, and believe that Mentor Graphics solutions will help enable customers to realize the benefits of ProASIC3/E."
Actel and Mentor Graphics are working together to ensure support for all of Actel's FPGAs. Initial support for ProASIC3/E in the Precision Synthesis tool suite has been available for selected customers since October 2004. Support for all Actel device families in the LeonardoSpectrum tool is scheduled for the upcoming release. The Precision Synthesis and LeonardoSpectrum products are fully compatible with Actel's Libero 6.1 IDE design environment. A new version of ModelSim AE (Actel Edition) is also available as part of the Libero 6.1 IDE supporting the ProASIC3/E devices.
"There is significant demand for attractively priced, flash-based FPGA solutions such as those found in the ProASIC3/E families," said Simon Bloch, general manager, Design Creation and Synthesis Division, Mentor Graphics. "Both of these device families are well positioned to address the needs of high-volume applications, especially in the automotive and consumer electronics market segments. In addition to lowering device costs, the new families can also reduce overall system costs by eliminating the need for additional components on the system board."
The Precision RTL Synthesis tool is optimized to deliver superior synthesis results. In addition, it provides a breadth of advanced design creation and design analysis capabilities, such as intuitive design project management and a full-featured incremental timing analysis tool that enables companies to take control of next-generation FPGA implementation and timing challenges, resulting in shorter design cycles and significantly higher performance.
