City of Zurich, Switzerland Selects Intergraph Public Safety to Integrate Emergency Dispatch Operations; Interoperable Solutions to Manage Emergencies

The City of Zurich, Switzerland has selected Intergraph Public Safety to combine its two emergency dispatching centers into one central communications center. The new center will join city police, fire and emergency medical services (EMS) into one location thus increasing operational efficiencies. The contract award is valued at over $2.9 million.

Intergraph Public Safety will implement its computer aided dispatch (CAD) system, giving dispatchers instant, visual information. Dispatchers will be able to see emergency vehicles and the events they are responding to on a graphical map that updates automatically on their computer screens. In addition to CAD, a new video and voice communications system and broadband network will be installed. The new integrated solution will also allow for interoperability between Intergraph systems already operational at the Canton Police of Zurich and the City Police of Winterthur.

"After an intensive analysis of qualified bid submissions and a thorough demonstration of the proposed system, the City of Zurich selected Intergraph for its user-friendly, state-of-the-art software," said Ms. Heidi Daniels, project leader of Schutz & Rettung, Zurich. "The large-scale integration of the Geographic Information System (GIS) component, and the ability to have one fully integrated system for three organizations convinced us to choose the Intergraph solution."

Ben Eazzetta, president of Intergraph Public Safety, said, "We are delighted to help Zurich combine the efforts of all their emergency services into one central communications center. The previously established partnership between Intergraph and the Canton Police of Zurich and the City Police of Winterthur provides the basis of assurance the Intergraph solution implemented at the City of Zurich will further improve communications and response management. This contract award is another example of our increasing presence and on-going commitment to serving the emergency service organizations throughout Europe."
