UGS Names Dave Shirk to Lead Global Marketing Efforts
UGS announced Dave Shirk has joined the company as executive vice president, Global Marketing, effective January 14.
In this position, Shirk is responsible for worldwide marketing of UGS' full suite of software and services. He reports to Tony Affuso, UGS chairman, CEO and president.
"As the adoption of PLM continues to see substantial growth in enterprise applications, it's important to build the UGS leadership team with individuals who have extensive enterprise experience," Affuso said. "Dave's solid track record will bring a dynamic facet to what is already a strong and knowledgeable team. This is an important final step in implementing our growth strategy."
Shirk brings to UGS extensive executive-level experience in product, field, industry and corporate marketing; market analysis; sales; and strategic relationship, business and strategy development. Shirk joins UGS from Vignette Corp. in Austin, Texas, where he most recently served as senior vice president, Products, Strategy & Worldwide Marketing. Prior to joining Vignette, he held the positions of senior vice president of Product Marketing & Product Management at Novell Corp.; vice president of Marketing, Industry Applications Division, at Oracle Corp.; and vice president of Worldwide Sales and Marketing at Macola, Inc. In each role, he was successful in creating and driving strategies, programs and teams that drove revenue growth and market leadership.
A native of Ohio, Shirk earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the Ohio State University. His appointment completes the organization's business model in which Products, Sales and Marketing each have balanced responsibility for success and will work in close collaboration to reach company goals.
