Agile Software Partners with The University of Texas at Dallas School of Management to Offer Professional Certificate in PLM
Agile Software Corporation announced it has joined with the Center for Intelligent Supply Chain Networks (C4ISN) at The University of Texas at Dallas School of Management to offer a professional certificate in product lifecycle management.
This program is targeted for students from all segments of the supply chain community including service, manufacturing, product development, procurement, information technology and consulting. Program participants will learn how to: improve product lifecycles and performances, collaborate effectively with other functions within the organization while reducing cycle times and become more efficient in using technology while learning and applying the latest techniques from industry and academic experts. In addition, students will be given the opportunity to network with other product lifecycle professionals while becoming current in best practices and trends in the field of PLM.
To earn this certificate, students are required to participate in a comprehensive curriculum of two-day modules. This program requires a completion of five modules (16 contact hours per module), class assignments and quizzes. Modules include a PLM overview, technology-enabled PLM and value management in PLM. The first class begins in April 2005.
"This program will address the growing interest we are seeing in this area. We expect that participants will gain a greater understanding of the value and real-life applications of product lifecycle management," said Hasan Pirkul, Ph.D., UTD School of Management Dean.
"We have been seeing more and more companies, across industries and around the world, focusing on 'how products happen' within the company with an eye toward improved profitability throughout the product lifecycle-which is the focus of PLM," said Bryan Stolle, Agile CEO. "The creation by UTD of a curriculum dedicated to PLM underscores the importance of understanding the impact that PLM can have on a manufacturer's bottom line in this increasingly competitive global market."
The Center for Intelligent Supply Chain Networks (C4ISN) was established in spring 2003 at the UTD School of Management. C4ISN brings together a community of supply chain experts from academia and industry to collaborate on and share information on lessons learned and best practices in intelligent supply networks. The School of Management is the largest of UTD's seven schools, with an enrollment that has doubled over the last nine years to more than 4,400 students. The school's new, 204,000-square-foot building-featuring classrooms with state-of-the-art audio and visual equipment, wireless connectivity, video-conferencing facilities, a computer lab, faculty offices, meeting rooms and an executive education center-opened in August 2003.
