United Microelectronics Company Deploys Agile PLM to Accelerate Time to Market
Agile Software Corporation announced that United Microelectronics Company, Ltd. (UMEC), has standardized its product development processes with Agile PLM. UMEC selected the Agile 9 solution for its robust platform and rapid deployment, and is using Agile PLM to collaborate on and control product information within its divisions and across its supply chain. UMEC's deployment of Agile PLM has resulted in enhanced visibility and shorter product lifecycle processes.
Founded in 1984, UMEC is headquartered in Taichung, Taiwan, and has manufacturing facilities in Taiwan and China. UMEC produces magnetic components, power supplies, telecommunication products, including videophones, and electronic component assemblies such as test equipment and GPS modules for original equipment manufacturers.
"We sought a solution that would allow us to easily standardize our product development processes within our own organization and across our supply chain. With its robust platform features and quick deployment time, Agile PLM was the best choice," said George Hwang, UMEC vice president of research and development. "With Agile PLM in place, we are already seeing improvements in our product development time, and we have the ability to monitor the status of various projects throughout our extended design and manufacturing teams."
UMEC adopted Agile Product Collaboration to manage and share product development information across its design and manufacturing teams, which enables UMEC to have greater visibility, management and collaboration across its extended supply chain. UMEC selected Agile Product Service and Improvement to improve product quality and customer satisfaction by tightly integrating customer, product, quality and regulatory information within a closed-loop corrective action system. UMEC's development projects are managed through Agile Product Portfolio Management, which permits UMEC to closely track the progress on the various product development projects.
