Delcam Sets New Record for Sales in December 2004

Delcam announced that it set a new monthly sales record in December 2004. Total sales reached almost £2.3 million, beating the previous record monthly level, set in December 2003, by over 12%. This latest achievement follows record first half sales by the company in the opening six months of 2004. It comes despite the continued weakening in the US$/£ exchange rate, which has had a negative impact on sales in many of the 60 countries where Delcam is represented. The results for the year to 31 December 2004 are expected to be at least in line with market expectations.

"We have maintained our growth through further expansion of our international reseller network and through continued increases in our investments in product development," commented Delcam's Managing Director Hugh Humphreys. "The continued international expansion means that we are able to benefit from the more favorable climate for manufacturing that exists in many of our export markets in comparison to the current difficult conditions for our UK operation. We remain very sympathetic to the problems being faced by some of our UK manufacturing customers and will continue our strong level of support to help them overcome these difficulties."

"Our increased development expenditure is helping us both to increase our number of customers, which is now over 10,000, and to grow the maintenance revenue that we receive from our existing clients keen to keep up with our latest enhancements. In addition, our new Professional Services Group has already won some significant contracts to customize our standard products for especially demanding applications, in particular in the aerospace industry."

"We have received a number of orders from larger multi-national corporations in recent months, although the majority of our business still comes from small- and medium-sized companies. While these have not been unusually high in value, we are, of course, hopeful that these initial orders will lead to larger opportunities in the future."

"At the same time, we have continued our diversification outside our traditional toolmaking market. While this is still an important part of our business, we have seen considerable growth in our sales to industries as diverse as aerospace, autosport, packaging, medical and jewellery. We expect to see further growth from these sectors in 2005," he concluded.
