Mastercam Art and Mastercam X Showcased at the Moldmaking Expo

Mastercam Art and Mastercam X will be showcased at the Moldmaking Expo, April 19-21 in booth # 502 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont, IL. Mastercam Art lets users create sophisticated 3D sculpted images from simple 2D artwork. What would have taken a signmaker, custom cabinetmaker, or other artisan weeks to do can now be done in minutes.

Iven May, Mastercam Art Product Manager, states, "Everything is becoming more and more customized. People want their logos, their artwork, and even their faces machined into signs, cars, and motorcycle parts. They are no longer satisfied with "blocky" shapes but want curvy, organic shapes like leaves, spiders, fish, insects, or any font off their computer. Mastercam Art delivers the power to make these 3D shapes simply and instantly from 2D art."

Mastercam Art eliminates many of the previous problems of creating machinable artwork. Starting from input that can range from a fully developed CAD model to artwork scanned from a napkin, users quickly "sculpt" a model on screen until it looks the way they want it. A suite of software tools allows easy and quick changes, edits, even reversion to a previous design. The result is a complex and detailed image that only took minutes to produce, saving time and money.

May notes, "Good technology should allow you to do more complex and sophisticated things simply and easily, without making you become a more sophisticated user. Mastercam Art users enjoy the power and ease-of-use of the software and many have stated that it is just plain fun to use."

An add-on to Mastercam Mill or Router, Mastercam Art delivers a set of fast and easy-to-use toolpaths that have been developed specifically for cutting artistic, finely detailed surfaces.

"Mastercam X marks an exciting new chapter for our software," says CNC Software president Mark Summers. Mastercam X delivers "smart" functions, a streamlined interface, powerful new cutting techniques, and much more.
