WESTEC 2005 Conference Prepares Manufacturers for Global Competition
Worker skills and education will be decisive factors in America's ability to compete in the global manufacturing environment with workforce reductions and the outsourcing of manufacturing operations overseas reportedly costing 2.7 million American workers their jobs in the last four years. The Society of Manufacturing Engineers' (SME) WESTEC 2005 Conference, "New Technology and Innovative Applications," brings technical experts with information on streamlining processes, gaining a competitive edge, implementing new technologies, and maintaining a supply chain at lower cost. The WESTEC 2005 Conference is being held April 4-7, 2005 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles.
The WESTEC 2005 Conference is sponsored by Gibbs and Associates, Moorpark, Calif. The conference offers presentations with information specifically focused in four categories: "How to Do," "Why to Do," "What's New," and "Improved Manufacturing Techniques," all designed for manufacturers who have responsibilities for operations, management, engineering, product and process design, quality, lean implementation, systems integration, information technology, production and R&D.
