Scanfil Chooses Modultek's PDM System
Scanfil Oyj, one of Finland's leading contract manufacturers and system suppliers for the data communications and electronics industries, has ordered a total PDM solution from Modultek Oy. This major project will see the new system enter service throughout the global Scanfil Group.
Modultek's Aton solution enables Scanfil to manage change processes related to its products, both for those already in production and in connection with product information on new product lines. This change process embraces clients, the supplier and subcontractors, the solution supporting Scanfil's development of its operations towards networked design and production.
"The flexible transfer of production between different plants and the centralized management of product changes allow us to react quickly to changing customer needs. Reliable and cost-effective change management is a pre-requisite of modern contract manufacturing," explains Harri Takanen, Technology Manager at Scanfil Oyj. "In order to support this process, we also purchased a global item management solution, since global items generate savings in materials management."
The third part of the system project is the centralization of product-related documentation. Documents produced by all parties - clients, subcontractors and production facilities - are managed centrally and transparently in the Aton system.
The system solution is global, since in addition to the Finnish units, it will be implemented in five manufacturing units in Estonia, Belgium, China and Hungary.
