eDrawingsT Adds Lightweight Viewing to CoCreate CAD
Geometric Software Solutions and CoCreate Software GmbH announced the release of eDrawingsT Professional for OneSpace Designer. The announcement marking the first of a series of products to be released is a result of Geometric signing a license agreement with CoCreate Software GmbH whereby eDrawings lays the foundation for lightweight viewing of CAD designs across all CoCreate products.
With this agreement, designers can now save their CoCreate CAD designs in the eDrawings format. With lightweight viewing formats like eDrawings, 3D CAD design data can reach beyond the engineering team to manufacturing, procurement, marketing, and even suppliers and customers. Each can see engineering models in eDrawings and then offer expertise in design reviews.
Product information is available at http://www.cocreate.com/eDrawings .
"For every seat of CAD in a company, 10 or more people exist who can reuse 3D CAD design data or help support product development," said William M. Gascoigne, CoCreate CEO. "Now that designers can easily publish eDrawings from directly within Designer Modeling, our customers can expect better value from their CAD designs because they can easily collaborate with everyone involved in the product."
"I am delighted CoCreate has chosen eDrawings to create a platform for superior lightweight viewing capabilities in CoCreate's products," said Pramod Rao, Business Head Collaboration products, Geometric. "This partnership extends a richer user experience and superior visualization features to CoCreate's customers. Geometric and CoCreate are committed to developing a complete, tightly integrated suite of products within the OneSpace environment for rapid product development and engineering collaboration."
Currently eDrawings supports AutoCAD®, CATIA® V5, UG 17, 18 & NX®, Autodesk Inventor Series, Pro/ENGINEER®, Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire®, and SolidWorks® software.
Availability
eDrawings is now available with version 13.01 of OneSpace Designer. CoCreate offers two forms of eDrawings:
Basic. Available for all users of Designer Modeling. Use the basic eDrawings format to share 2D and 3D CAD designs. Unlike CAD files, eDrawings files are compact and easy to email. Typically, an eDrawings file is more than 90% smaller than its CAD counterpart. But unlike other formats such as PDF and TIF, eDrawings are highly interactive, so recipients can actually experience designs in 3D.
Professional. Available as a separate add on. Use the professional module to produce inspection- and review-enabled eDrawings, and to add markup, comment, measure, and dynamic cross-sectioning to your eDrawings. Pricing information is available from your local CoCreate reseller or account representative.
With eDrawings Professional, you can:
Share product designs with eDrawings and collaborate with your extended teams.
Receive feedback on CAD design data from an unlimited number of recipients.
Manage, track, and merge comments from different team members.
Examine internal details of parts and assemblies using dynamic cross sectioning.
Measure the geometry in part, assembly, and drawing files when dimensions are absent. Or, disable the measurement feature and protect your sensitive design data.
