Glen Dimplex Standardizes on PTC Solutions
PTC announced that the Glen Dimplex Group, a leading manufacturer of electric heating and domestic appliances, has selected PTC's Pro/ENGINEER® WildfireT to streamline its entire product development process from product concept to manufacturing. The initial roll out will allow a variety of users from nine sites across the globe to work together more effectively. Glen Dimplex will also implement PTC's Pro/FICIENCYT eLearning system, which is designed to accelerate the return-on-investment for all new users and improve the efficiency of existing users. The initial software and services order was placed in PTC's first quarter of 2005 (ended January 1, 2005).
Mark Kirk, IT director, Glen Dimplex commented, "Several of our design departments have been using Pro/ENGINEER successfully for 5 years. Standardizing on one design solution is important to us so that we can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our product development efforts across the whole company-and speed the time it takes for us to bring new products to market. We followed a rigorous system selection of CAD tools including I-DEAS® from UGS Corp. and Autodesk Inventor® . In the end PTC's Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire was chosen since it showed the greatest savings in terms of both cost and time. Now, we are excited to begin work with PTC to define other areas of our development and manufacturing process that can be optimized by working together."
