RAND Worldwide ® Launches SOLO Learning Tool
RAND Worldwide ®, announced that ASCENT-Center for Technical KnowledgeT, is launching a new learning tool called SOLO (Searchable Online Learning Objects). SOLO provides users of engineering software applications from developers such as Dassault Systèmes, PTC, and Autodesk, access to an online searchable database of learning objects that will assist them with their day-to-day use of the software.
Accessible through the Internet or deployed for Intranet access, SOLO features a user-friendly search engine that identifies learning objects related to a user's search query. The extensive database includes RAND's own knowledge related to software applications such as CATIA V5 and SMARTEAM from Dassault Systèmes, Pro/ENGINEER and Pro/INTRALINK from PTC, and AutoCAD, Inventor, ADT and Revit from Autodesk. Furthermore, RAND can import a customer's own knowledge collateral into SOLO in a secure manner such that search results include articles from both RAND and the user's own company.
RAND Worldwide has been supporting and educating automation design technology users for over 18 years. SOLO expands on RAND's current education offerings to provide a means for customers to gain immediate access, at their desktops, to knowledge captured by members of RAND's training, technical support, and consulting groups. Knowledge is presented in the form of focused learning objects that offer information in a variety of formats, including high-level overviews, step-by-step procedures, best practices, software issue work-arounds, and hands-on practice exercises.
"Our overall focus is to increase job productivity for engineers, designers and architects. As part of our learning continuum, we are adding the critical component of workplace learning", stated Joe Oswald, Executive Vice President, for RAND Worldwide. "With the never-ending innovation of software tools, our customers need a convenient and unobtrusive way to quickly gain the knowledge they need, where they need it, and especially when they need it. Solving that challenge led us to the development of SOLO."
"RAND Worldwide recognizes that learning is not an event that takes place only in a classroom at a scheduled time; the need for knowledge is anywhere, anytime," added Frank Baldesarra, President and CEO of RAND Worldwide. "We continue to innovate products and services that focus on increasing our customers' productivity with their chosen Product Lifestyle Management (PLM) tools. SOLO represents another example of this by bringing knowledge associated with these tools and related processes to the users' desktops."
ASCENT will be hosting a web-based teleconference to demonstrate SOLO on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at 2:00 pm EST. Please e-mail SOLO@ascented.com to attend.
