Tata Consultancy Services Selects Mentor Graphics Design-for-Test Tools

Mentor Graphics Corporation announced that Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Asia's largest information technology consulting and service provider, has selected Mentor Graphics® Design-for-Test (DFT) tools. TCS offers design services and intellectual property (IP) to a wide range of semiconductor design and manufacturing customers, so it requires a comprehensive set of DFT tools that are flexible enough to accommodate a variety of complex process technologies and design flows.

Mentor Graphics DFT tools provide TCS customers with superior test coverage, flexibility and innovative at-speed test capabilities that increase test quality while reducing test cost. Mentor Graphics provides a broad portfolio of DFT solutions for today's system on chip (SoC) and deep submicron designs, including solutions for memory BIST, logic BIST, boundary scan, ATPG and embedded compression.

"Our customers expect us to address highly complex test challenges, which require that we use the most advanced tools and test techniques available," said Dr. Sherlekar, Head Embedded Systems, TCS. "TCS philosophy is to use best-in-class tools or customer preferred tools to provide the services and solutions. Mentor Graphics offers best-in-class DFT tools that fit into any design flow, enabling us to deliver high-quality test solutions to a larger number of customers. Investment in industry-leading DFT tools from Mentor Graphics helps us to train and equip our designers with the necessary skill sets and ensures value added solutions to our customers."

TCS adopted the FastScan product, the industry-leading ATPG tool. The FastScan product provides TCS with an intuitive interface and a range of fault models, advanced fault analysis, pattern compression and optimization capabilities, and industry-proven at-speed test capabilities to deliver the high-coverage test sets needed for today's leading edge ASIC and SoC designs. TCS also selected the MBISTArchitect product for memory BIST and the BSDArchitectT product for boundary scan implementation.

"The breadth and depth of Mentor DFT solutions ensure that leading service providers such as TCS can offer their customers the complete set of advanced manufacturing test solutions required for today's most complex SoC designs," said Robert Hum, vice president and general manager of the Mentor Graphics Design Verification and Test Division. "As the industry continues to move to nanometer technologies, Mentor's advanced test solutions including the FastScan, TestKompress® and MBISTArchitect products will play an increasingly important role in ensuring the quality of manufactured ICs."

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is a world leading information technology consulting, services, and business process outsourcing organization that envisioned and pioneered the adoption of the flexible global business practices that today enable companies to operate more efficiently and produce more value.

TCS achieved this by creating and perfecting a unique method of global deployment and delivery of high quality, high value services and products in IT consulting and business process outsourcing. Known as the "Global Delivery Model," this strategic services delivery concept has reshaped the IT services industry.
