British Company Salamander Launches Business-Driven SOA Solution
British technology and consulting company Salamander has launched the latest addition to its Enterprise software suite-MooD Business Orchestration. The solution will unlock promised value from SOA initiatives and challenge technology-driven SOA providers.
SOA cannot be bought off the shelf. In the search for flexibility and increased competitiveness, organizations are pursuing a service-oriented approach that wrongly focuses on technology and therefore offers little prospect of benefits to the business, according to Salamander.
"To date, businesses have been struggling with the SOA concept, not helped by the gap in the approach taken by SOA providers," says Salamander chief technology officer Dick Whittington. "MooD Business Orchestration fills this void; the solution must drive and manage the strategy, design and implementation of SOA technology platforms to ensure the business drivers stay in control of the IT agenda.
"In our work to date with leading global organizations, MooD is enabling re-utilisation of software assets and so greater agility and innovation. We believe MooD is the first truly business-driven SOA tool - it ensures that business value manages the strategy, design and integration of SOA environments."
MooD Business Orchestration enables organizations to develop a business services architecture that aligns directly with business drivers and structures: a Service Ready ArchitectureT. Test-orchestration then allows organizations to generate and compare alternative futures for different aspects of the business and to ensure that technical services and components align with business services.
The technology sits above and integrates with SOA technical platforms offered by major SOA technology providers, such as Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, Sun and BEA. This offers not just flexibility but faster deployment time and reduced cost - and will help ensure the US giants are less able to dominate a market estimated to be worth more than $50 billion in 2008.
Salamander's award-winning MooD Technology is currently being used across projects in the public and private sector to realise anticipated business and IT benefits from SOA. MooD Technology now offers complete lifecycle coverage for SOA. With SOA driven from the consideration of achieving best business value, businesses are taking control of the way things work, with the agility to make changes at any level, and a clear common understanding of how it all fits together.
