German Engineering Company CADCON Implements the HyperWorks Platform for Innovation

Altair Engineering, Inc. announced that CADCON, a leading German engineering and design company, has selected the Altair HyperWorks CAE software suite to support the simulation needs of its growing engineering consulting business. CADCON plans to implement HyperWorks within its newly formed analysis and simulation department to provide innovative design solutions for its aerospace and ground vehicle customers. Key factors in choosing HyperWorks included CADCON’s decision to use RADIOSS as their primary solver for linear analysis and HyperMesh for pre- and post-processing complex linear and non-linear analysis problems.

“We have been using HyperWorks for design optimization since October 2007 in response to our customers’ demand for advanced FE-simulation services from our company,” said Martin Schmid, Team Leader, Analysis and Simulation, at CADCON, Germany. “After evaluating the software offerings available on the market, we realized that the HyperWorks suite addressed our requirements the best. Its open-system design and multiple direct interfaces to third-party commercial software tools provides the flexibility we need to support the broad simulation requests we receive. In addition, we have found the Altair’s software licensing system simplifies staff access to the entire suite of HyperWorks tools while delivering significant value to our company.

“I am very pleased to see a growing demand for our tools - especially our solver offerings - in the German market,” said Dr. Detlef Schneider, Managing Director of Altair Engineering, Germany. “Engineering companies such as CADCON need tools that are open and can also be used in combination with other software products they or their customers use without loss of data or time. HyperWorks offers these possibilities like no other software suite available on the market. I’m sure that CADCON will see growing benefits in the potential they have using our platform for innovation.”

Altair HyperMesh is a user-friendly, high-performance finite-element pre and post-processor for popular finite-element solvers. It allows engineers to analyze product design performance in a highly interactive and visual environment. It also contains a morphing capability that permits users to quickly parameterize models and stretch finite-element meshes, while keeping mesh distortion at a minimum.

Altair RADIOSS is a fast and accurate finite-element solver for linear, nonlinear and transient dynamics problems. This modern alternative to NASTRAN, directly supports NASTRAN input and output data file formats (OUTPUT2 and PUNCH) for ease of deployment and interoperability.
