RECARO Aircraft Seating Implements CIM DATABASE PLM Solution
Recaro Aircraft Seating with headquarters in Schwäbisch Hall, Germany is a leading manufacturer of aircraft seatings. The company, member of the Keiper Recaro Group, is currently introducing CIM DATABASE as global platform for their Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). The implementation of the highly complex specifications is being performed in close cooperation with CONTACT Software and Airbus subsidiary CIMPA, a specialist for PLM services. Initial production begins early March; parallel, further projects are being initiated. Recaro Aircraft Seating's strategy is to support all future major product lifecycle processes with the new PLM solution.
Prior to system change and in close collaboration with CIMPA consultants, an elementary requirements survey was conducted, that not only extensively modified the requirements' tender. Heeding workflow analysis and department consultations, project "Recaro 2010" was born, extending the initially limited PLM requirements from product design optimization to an encompassing process optimization throughout the complete product lifecycle.
Accordingly, CIM DATABASE will from day one accompany Recaro Aircraft Seating in key segments R&D, purchases, standards & standardisation as well as production planning. In its conceived finite stage, the PLM platform will actively facilitate approx. 300 employees, plus a limited membership with only informative and "viewing" access. Venture point of the imminent project implementations is project administration and its supplementary documentation, management of products, BOMs and accompanying parameters, plus the SAP-ERP integration. Consequential steps are activation of CAD data management for CATIA V4 and V5 and implementation of CIM DATABASE/PDX as a unique service centre for product data exchange services. In a third extension, ECM and essential project management functions are supplemented.
The Keiper Recaro Group is well known as manufacturer of premium seating for industrial car and aircraft interiors. Recaro Aircraft Seating in 2006 achieved revenue of about € 200 million, with nearly 1000 employees and 50% of these in Germany. Covering sites across Europe, USA, Asia and South Africa, it develops, manufactures and distributes seats and seat components for passenger aircraft manufacturers such as Airbus and Boeing as well as for all leading airlines world-wide.
