MSC Software Announces the 2008 Releases of its Engineering Analysis and Next Generation MD Technologies

MSC.Software, the leading global provider of enterprise simulation solutions, including simulation software and services, today announced the 2008 release of its complete engineering analysis suite as well as its MD Technologies - a core component of MSC SimEnterprise that includes MD Nastran and MD Adams. The concurrent release highlights the seamless path forward that leverages existing MSC.Software single analysis point tools to MD's multiple discipline analysis. MD complements MSC.Software's engineering foundation technology with enhanced solver integration that enables greater simulation accuracy and improved system level analysis, to reduce the gap between systems simulation and physical testing.

The 2008 release of the MSC Engineering Analysis Product Suite provides a common technology foundation for the company's MD Solutions while providing users with the best available technology for single discipline problems. By investing and building upon these MSC.Software technology foundation tools, customers have forward compatible access to the complete SimEnterprise solution set. This integrated solution set ranges from traditional engineering point-solutions to integrated multidiscipline solutions and expands into simulation process management and automation. The 2008 release of the MSC Engineering Analysis Product suite includes enhancements to Nastran, Marc, Dytran, Adams, Patran, and Easy5, providing the broadest range of engineering simulation technologies available today. In the 2008 engineering analysis release direct connectivity to SimEnterprise is enabled to ensure that MSC.Software customers can use today's products with next generation technology in an interoperable way.

"MSC.Software's engineering analysis products have long served as the simulation backbone for leading auto, aero and manufacturing industry businesses worldwide," said Bill Weyand, chief executive officer, MSC.Software. "The company is committed to enhancing our core technology to meet customer needs and evolving the solution set to help customers increase business value and innovation by taking the path forward to enterprise simulation with SimEnterprise."

"MD Solutions 2008 provides customers with a groundbreaking path forward in the ongoing quest to close the gap between testing and simulation," said Dr. Reza Sadeghi, Chief Technology Officer, MSC.Software. "For the first time, many envisioned multidisciplinary advances become reality. The commonality of the framework eliminates time consuming traditional iterative analysis when compared with using multiple point products and by providing a higher degree of integration between MD Adams & MD Nastran, engineers can carry out stress analysis during motion simulation to instantly visualize stresses occurring in moving parts and assemblies at any specific instance in time. Additionally, MD Solutions 2008 unified open solver framework includes integrated partner technology such as LS-Dyna from LSTC for crash and impact analysis and micromechanical composite failure analysis from AlphaStar."

MSC.Software's MD helps companies improve the accuracy of simulation and optimize product performance by integrating engineering disciplines like structures, thermal, motion, and mechatronics into a single solver foundation. MD's single environment eliminates data translation and transformations that often lead to inaccuracy and inefficiency. With MD, product manufacturers are able to simulate real world problems more accurately in a fully integrated environment by using chained or coupled analyses with a common data model across multiple engineering disciplines.

"MD Solutions 2008 provides a compelling ROI by allowing more reliable and accurate simulation, reduced translation errors, multi-disciplinary optimization and solution completeness that is game-changing," said Glenn Wienkoop, President, MSC.Software. "Coupled with our recent acquisition of thermal analysis technology along with our expanding partnerships, this solidly positions MSC.Software and its foundation technology as the thought leader in simulation software."
