Power Analog Microelectronics Tapes Out First of Several Integrated Circuit Products Using Simucad Design Flow

Power Analog Microelectronics, Inc. (PAM), a company that focuses on designing advanced analog and high-voltage power integrated circuits (ICs), successfully taped out the first of several complex integrated circuit products using an all-Simucad tool design flow.

The PAM3101 IC, now in production, was designed, simulated and laid out using Simucad's TSMC05_5V MM Process Design Kit (PDK) and Simucad's Custom IC CAD design software. Other PAM IC products are in development using Simucad's TSMC025_40V and TSMC06_40V BCD PDKs.

"The purpose of these ICs is to combine unique circuit design with innovative device and process technologies to produce the most cost-effective, highly efficient, power-saving products that can result in considerable cost-savings for end users and consumers," said Vincent Fong, Vice President of Engineering at PAM.

Fong further described the toolset used. "We used Simucad's Gateway for schematic entry, SmartSpice for analog simulation, Expert for layout editing, Guardian DRC/LVS/NET for physical verification, and HIPEX for hierarchical and parasitic extraction. Using a single vendor design flow has many benefits, specifically ease of tool use, better design productivity and great support."

"It is fun working with a great customer like PAM on a complex circuit design project combining high quality PDKs with a well integrated Simucad toolset," said Dr. Ivan Pesic, CEO of Simucad.
