IFS Applications Selected by General Dynamics To Provide IT Backbone for Navy Logistics Contract

IFS announced that General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems has chosen IFS Applications as its IT backbone solution for a U.S. Navy performance-based logistics contract.

Under its contract with the Navy, General Dynamics will be responsible for logistics support of mission computers for several types of F/A-18 and AV-8B aircraft. General Dynamics’ responsibilities will include making repairs, providing spare systems and modules, arranging transportation, managing obsolescence and controlling inventories. In support of this effort General Dynamics will use IFS Applications for supply chain, tracking, repair, maintenance and reporting functions.

“IFS defense solutions are designed with evolution in mind. In order to effectively manage logistics for U.S. defense organizations, companies like General Dynamics must utilize technology that is reliable and easily adaptable,” IFS North America President and CEO Cindy Jaudon said. “The demands placed on defense suppliers change so rapidly that an agile enterprise application is crucial. Combine the ability to reconfigure and add functionality to meet customers’ specific needs and you have technology that can give Department of Defense contractors a real competitive edge.”

Aerospace and defense is one of IFS’ targeted market segments. IFS Applications includes advanced standard functionality that meets the demanding requirements of defense manufacturers. IFS’ fully integrated project tracking and product data management capabilities, when combined with other IFS Applications components, make it easier to operate while managing the design, manufacturing, and ongoing spare parts logistics and maintenance support of complex products throughout the product lifecycle.
