Jotun Expands Collaboration with IFS
The Jotun Group, one of the world’s leading suppliers of paint, coatings and powder coatings, is expanding its use of IFS Applications by adding new functionality, including the Trade Management component. At the same time, Jotun will upgrade its entire enterprise applications to IFS Applications 7.5. The agreement includes software and consulting services and is valued at NKr 20 million. The project is also part of the preparation for a larger, global roll-out project in Jotun.
The Jotun Group has been an IFS customer since 2003 and has implemented IFS Applications components for financials, manufacturing, logistics, and maintenance in its Scandinavian operations. Now Jotun is expanding the solution with the addition of a new component, Trade Management, which is part of IFS’ solution for the retail and wholesale industry. The component will replace the customized functionality in Jotun’s current system.
Morten Fon, Jotun’s CEO, points out that Jotun has already benefited from collaborating with IFS. “We have standardized our business processes and achieved better control, efficiency and collaboration in Scandinavia. With IFS Applications 7.5, more of the solution will be based on standard functionality. This will enable us to further streamline and prepare for the planned global roll-out of the solution,” Fon said.
The aim of the upgrade project is to improve Jotun’s competitive position by utilizing the latest technology and functionality from IFS and enhancing processes and work flows.
“IFS has shown itself to be a competent supplier, with a culture that fits well with ours. Our experience of IFS Applications has been very good—in terms of both learning and use. Now we are looking forward to going live with the new version of the applications,” said Fon.

The process industry is one of IFS’ seven targeted markets. IFS provides industry-specific functionality for enterprises in food and beverage, chemicals, pulp and paper, and metals segments. IFS Applications for the chemicals industry provides support for all critical business processes, including batch balancing, recipe management, quality management, and demand planning. The application suite includes a complete asset as well as product lifecycle management solution.
