World's Top Shipbuilders Congregate in Japan

The 26th AVEVA Marine Users' Meeting (AMUM), organised annually by AVEVA Group Plc, has entered its second day today. The three day event, attended by 250 delegates from 30 countries, features AVEVA products and updates, as well as AVEVA customer presentations from the world's top shipbuilders including Hyundai Heavy Industries, Universal Shipbuilding Corporation, Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction, SEDEF Shipyard, Kawasaki Shipbuilding Corporation, Friede & Goldman.

Kobe was chosen to host this year's event because of its close proximity to a number of key shipyards. Furthermore, the move to host AMUM in Japan demonstrates AVEVA's commitment to Japan following robust growth in the country, during the last financial year, after securing several multi-million USD contracts.

Kawasaki Shipbuilding Corporation, AVEVA's first marine customer in Japan, hosted a site visit for delegates to their famed Sakaide Works yesterday. It was there that Kawasaki built Japan's first LNG carrier.

Richard Longdon, Chief Executive Officer, AVEVA Group Plc said:

"Our customers and prospects have learnt more about AVEVA Marine solutions and have seen how they are being implemented in other yards through the site visit and customer presentations. We have constantly been improving our solutions and services to deliver customers the very best. This year, AVEVA's R&D funding will be increased by over 20% to USD40 million for that very reason."

Peter Finch, President, AVEVA Asia Pacific said:

"We see great potential in Japan's shipbuilding industry. Although ranked third following South Korea and China, they can increase their competitiveness by subscribing to AVEVA Marine's highly efficient design, production, and project lifecycle management solutions. This is exactly what 90% of South Korean yards and a majority of those in China have done, and now their bookorders are proof that they are benefiting from the use of our solutions."
