Capvidia Releases FlowVision HPC

Capvidia continues to provide innovative CFD simulation solutions with their new FlowVision (High Performance Computing) HPC release. This release features a parallel solver optimized for multi-grid and multi-core cluster configurations. An optional direct coupling with Simulia-Abaqus provides a solution for multi-physics simulation such as fluid-structure-interaction. Their focus on multi-physics applications is on-goring activity since more than decade.

“Realistic CFD simulations require not only efficient numerical implementation, but also close cooperation with industrial partners who are able to verify the simulation results with experiments. Capvidia has been working with market leaders from the tire industry and compressor manufacturers over the last 6 years to enhance FlowVision for complex multi-physics applications.” says T. Capvidia combines their own technology with the best of class vendors. Technical partnerships with Dassault Systems Simulia have resulted in development of a direct bi-directional interface between FEM Abaqus and FlowVision. This direct coupling allows them to address extremely complex fluid-structure-interaction problems in efficient and controlled way. Capvidia has unique expertise in these types of applications, but are relatively unknown in the market. The reason for this is very simple; due to the confidential character of projects they do with their industrial partners, they are not allowed to publish the results.

FlowVision HPC major enhancements:

•  Multi-Physics Simulation – direct bi-directional coupling with Abaqus for fluid-structure-interaction, automatic and direct data exchange with Abaqus controlled with MPM (multi-physics manager)

•  Unique Grid Generation directly on CAD model – exact fit to CAD model boundary with automatic adaptation to geometrical shape and solution

•  Clearance Model – efficient solution to dimensionality problems as e.g. modeling of small clearance in large compressors – manageable mesh size

•  High Performance Computing – efficient parallel solver supporting multi-grid and multi-core processor configurations (Linux/Windows)
