Avatech Adds New Features to Revit Software Utilities

Avatech Solutions, Inc. has announced the update of its Avatech Revit Utilities software—five productivity tools for the Autodesk® Revit® family of products. Avatech originally developed these tools to increase the productivity and efficiency of their Revit implementation clients. Today, Avatech continues its support of Revit users by updating these five tools with great new features and providing them free of charge to all members of the Revit community. Developed by Avatech’s Software Development Solutions group, these updated plug-ins to Revit are available now at http://www.avatech.com/web/revitutilities.

•  Room Renumber enables Revit Architecture users to automate the renumbering of existing rooms based on any user-defined order. Rooms can also be added to an existing series and subsequent rooms intelligently renumbered to make space for the inserted number. NEW FOR 2009: Now handles increments between room numbers.

•  Door Mark Update surveys all doors and rooms in a building model to determine the proper mark for each door. Specifically designed for companies who use the room that a door swings into as the mark, Door Mark Update allows Revit users to inspect and override suggested marks and then updates all marks, compiling a new schedule and door tag annotations to reflect any changes. NEW FOR 2009: Now provides user-specified suffixes where a room has more than one door. Also now supports swapping the door TO/FROM definition to match the door swing (works with Revit 2009 only).

•  Many design firms have standards regarding labeling, but sometimes they are difficult to enforce or are inadvertently ignored. In either case, mistakes are tedious to rectify. Change Case scans through a document set and enforces case standards, automatically updating BIM data for rooms and views to meet company or client standards. NEW FOR 2009: Added support for new element/parameter combinations (Text Note Text, View Title on Sheet).

•  Revit City Browser enables designers to browse to the popular RevitCity.com Web site directly inside of Revit, pull down content, and add it automatically to their projects. The utility also assists users in renaming the content and storing it in the proper library folder--all in one step.

•  Earth Connector for Revit enables designers to export building information models from Revit into Google Earth so that projects can be viewed in their surrounding environment. It includes 4-D construction phasing that allows designers, developers, and owners to watch how phases of their project will be built over time. NEW FOR 2009: Added an alternative mechanism for showing the Revit model origin; Added another way of specifying an alternate model origin for use in Google Earth; and resolved non-English locale issues.

"Revit Utilities save users time and effort by streamlining repetitive and tedious, yet necessary, tasks," says Matt Mason, director of Software Development Solutions at Avatech. "These utilities are just a small example of how our Software Development Group works with clients to provide custom solutions that help them gain competitive advantages."
