PTC/USER World Event 2008 Roundup: CAD Schroer Shows Project Engineers How to Win More Business

CAD Schroer’s team was pleased with the level of attendance and interest in its complementary software suites at the PTC/USER World event in Long Beach, California. In addition to showcasing STHENO/PRO®, drafting package for Pro/ENGINEER® users, CAD Schroer Group (CSG), the global engineering solutions provider, held a live presentation introducing its latest development, MPDS4 FACTORY LAYOUT™.

The presentation, “Project Engineering – How to be a Winner” focused on the quick and easy layout and visualisation of large facilities in the manufacturing and plant design sectors, using existing Pro/ENGINEER model data. Product Line Manager Mark Simpson and US/UK Sales Manager Bill Wilkins introduced the product, followed by a live demonstration to a packed audience.

“We had a lot of interest at the stand, and immediately after the presentation,” says Bill Wilkins. “Many companies that have their product design and manufacturing processes well organised with the excellent technologies offered by PTC® now want to look at competitiveness at the pre-sales stage, where they need to deliver impressive, visual bids quickly, without wasting time and money on tools that don’t deliver CAD content for downstream engineering design tasks if their bid is successful.”

“We demonstrated how we can use third party 2D building plans or site maps to form the basis of an installation design,” explains Mark Simpson, “then easily incorporate existing Pro/ENGINEER model data to quickly create large industrial layouts and 3D visualizations, walkthrough movies, 3D images, drawings and bills of materials to support the entire tender process. Parameters of any special components defined in the process can be passed on to Pro/ENGINEER to create detailed models and drawings of specials for manufacture.”
