Technia to Acquire Ravalik Oy in Finland – Strengthening the Company’s Position as the Leading Supplier of PLM Systems in the Nordic Region

Technia is to acquire the Finnish PLM supplier Ravalik Oy. The company generates sales of approximately SEK 35 M and is one of the leading players in Finland in its field. Its customers include several leading companies in the manufacturing industry and telecommunications. The acquisition is an supplement to the existing operations and means that Technia will become the leading PLM supplier in Finland, at the same time as the company’s position as the Nordic region’s leading supplier of PLM systems is strengthened.

Technia is one of the largest in the Nordic area and one of Europe’s leading supplier of PLM systems. PLM is a shared concept for systems that handle information and processes for the entire lifecycle of a product, from planning, design, development, production and sale to aftermarket support. The IT solutions are largely based on the software from Dassault Systemes and proprietary components.

“The acquisition is entirely in line with our Nordic growth strategy. Ravalik is well-managed with a superb reputation and this acquisition means that we will further advance our position in Finland. Ravalik is the perfect match to our existing business and supplements Technia in a variety of ways. We envisage elevated demand for PLM systems, and with Ravalik’s expertise we will broaden our offering and increase delivery capacity,” says Hans Wolfhagen, CEO of Technia.

Ravalik has successfully completed more than 500 project deliveries since it was founded in 1989. The company has 21 employees and generated sales of approximately SEK 35 M in the 2007 financial year. Similar to Technia, Ravalik’s PLM solutions are based on software from Dassault Systemes and proprietary components. Ravalik has also developed its own product platform for product-data management, which has been delivered to many international customers.

After the acquisition of Ravalik, Technia will have 200 employees in Sweden, Finland and Norway.

“We are looking forward to developing our business together with Technia, a company with a very strong brand a good reputation in the industry. Technia’s strong position in the Nordic region offers many opportunities for securing new business and broadening our offering. Together we will become the strongest player in Finland and look forward to an exciting future at Technia filled with many possibilities,” says Mikko Viertola, President of Ravalik Oy.

“The sale of Ravalik is an industrially correct move for all parties concerned – our employees, our customers and our suppliers. Aided by its personnel and customer base, Ravalik will strengthen Technia’s market position. Similarly, based on their size Technia and Addnode (Technia’s parent company ) will secure general growth and a broad offering to Ravalik’s existing customers,” says Pertti Pöntinen, founder and principal owner of Ravalik Oy.
