LEDAS Releases 64-Bit Version of its Variational Geometric Solver

Following tothe customers and potential market demand LEDAS Ltd., anindependent software provider ofcomputational components for PLM and ERP, releases 64-bit version ofits geometric solver. With new LGS version CAD/CAM/CAE software developers and their customers can greatly exploit all benefits of64-bit technology:

Access more physical memory. This ismost important moment for modern CAD/CAM and especially CAE applications. Native x64code, combined with Windows x64OSand suitable hardware can access upto2terabytes (TB)ofphysical RAM, empowering today’s most demanding geometry modeling applications.

Relieve Virtual Address Limitations. Unlike 32-bit systems, where memory allocation can become abottleneck regardless ofthe system’s physical RAM capacity, x64applications provide an8-TB virtual address space for the kernel, and for each process onthe system.

Improved Performance. While 32-bit applications perform similarly onWindows x64editions, native x64applications can see significant performance improvements, particularly for computationally intensive applications, which isthe case for parametric geometry modeling.

Data Execution Prevention. Windows x64can help prevent buffer overflow exploits with Data Execution Prevention. Whether via software orthe hardware support ofAMD and Intel processors, memory that isused for data can bemarked asdata, preventing itfrom being treated asexecutable code, thus helping toprevent such exploits.

Virtualization. The most powerful virtualization solutions oftomorrow will make use ofprocessor features such asIntel’s Virtualization Technology and AMD Virtualization, available onrecent x64processors. Making use ofthis technology will require 64-bit operating systems and native applications running onthem.

The first customer, receiving 64-bit version ofLGS isEngineering Technology Division ofJRI Solutions, Ltd, aJapanese company developing CAE software solutions for electromagnetic field analysis under JMAG brand. Due tolarge number ofelements tobeanalyzed (counted virtually bymillions) the ability toaccess more ofphysical memory iscrucial for JMAG applications.
