SANYO Selects Synopsys as Its Primary EDA Supplier

Synopsys, Inc. announced that SANYO Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (SANYO) has signed an expanded business agreement to establish Synopsys as its leading EDA supplier across the entire implementation and verification design flow. A key factor in the decision were the productivity gains SANYO achieved by deploying the Synopsys Galaxy™ design and Discovery™ verification platforms. This collaborative partnership includes increased usage of tools throughout Synopsys' product portfolio, including Design Compiler® synthesis, Primetime timing analysis, and IC Compiler place and route technology on the Galaxy design platform, and the VCS® and NanoSim® simulators for analog and digital verification on the Synopsys Discovery verification platform.

"By extending our long-term relationship with Synopsys, we are creating a focused, collaborative effort to achieve the highest level of productivity in our design flow," said Takeshi Ogiwara, general manager, Design Engineering Central Division, LSI H.Q. at SANYO Semiconductor Co., Ltd. "Standardizing on the Galaxy and Discovery platforms will help us master new challenges encountered at the leading edge of technology. In fact, deploying Synopsys' leading technology has already helped SANYO realize a number of successful production designs."

"As we extend our existing successful relationship with SANYO to the next level, we will focus on optimizing the design flow speed and throughput for highest productivity," said Aart de Geus, chairman and CEO of Synopsys, Inc. "This important joint initiative is designed to enable higher revenues for SANYO by expanding engineering productivity and keeping SANYO at the leading edge of technology."

SANYO Semiconductor Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of SANYO Electric Co., Ltd, develops innovative products, such as resource-saving ultra-small transistors, unique hard-wired logic ICs and thick film ICs, which contribute to the miniaturization and the reduction in power consumption of electronic devices.
