Capgemini and PCO Innovation Are Retained by Snecma, a SAFRAN Group Company, for PLM Integration Project “Virtual Platform”

Capgemini and PCO Innovation announce that they have been selected by Snecma, a SAFRAN Group company, to implement its “Virtual Platform” project that will rebuild the company’s IT system.

Capgemini and PCO Innovation, supported by software editor Siemens PLM Software, met Snecma’s project requirements by combining the experience of a major integrator recognized for its know-how in the implementation of large and complex IT projects, especially in PLM with the expertise of a company with over a decade’s experience in the implementation of PLM solutions, and the innovation of a software editor whose solutions have already been widely adopted in the aeronautics industry.

This three-year project will reinforce Capgemini’s leadership and development strategy in France in the PLM market. Based on Capgemini’s distributed delivery model, this project will be led by teams from the PLM Competence Centers of Capgemini Technology Services France (based in Toulouse) and PCO Innovation, with support from Capgemini’s Aeronautics Offshore Center in Bangalore, India.

“It is extremely satisfying to have been selected by Snecma for this project. This decision rewards the work the team has accomplished in collaboration with Snecma over the last few months and demonstrates the strong coherence of our offering with respect to the challenge presented by our client. PLM is one of Capgemini’s strategic offerings, particularly in the Aeronautics & Defence sector, and this three-year program will be the perfect illustration of this,” said Walter Cappilati, Executive Director of Capgemini Sud SAS.

The teams from PCO Innovation are very motivated by what is an ambitious program; we are going to be able to take advantage of our know-how and our 12 years of experience to meet the business objectives of the PLM SNECMA implementation,” said Olivier Létard, Co-Chairman of PCO Innovation.

PLM aims to enable the different entities of a company, from the delivery to the sales phase, to share their knowledge of the different stages in the lifecycle of a product (conception and design, manufacture, stocking, transport, sales, service and disposal) with its network of internal and external manufacturing partners. PLM generally covers Computer Aided Design (CAD), digital mock up, Product Data Management (PDM), collaborative Product Definition Management (cPDM) with clients and subcontractors, as well as integration within Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), systems maintenance and technical documentation.

According to CIMdata, the global PLM market currently represents close to 17.2 billion Euros and is estimated to reach 30 billion Euros in revenues by 2012. Capgemini is mainly focused on the cPDM (Collaborative Product Data Management) sub-segment, which is today worth over 5 billion Euros globally and 320 million Euros of which represents the French market, with an annual growth of close to 15%. Capgemini has significantly developed in this fast-growing market in the last five years to become the PLM integrator of reference, with development centers in Toulouse, France and in Bangalore, India.
