Siemens PLM Software-Sponsored Race Teams Dominate, Winning Five OF Six Nascar Sprint Cup Series Points Races

Siemens PLM Software announced that Siemens PLM Software-sponsored racing teams – whose cars are developed with the help of Siemens PLM Software technology – have won five of the first six NASCAR® Sprint Cup Series points races, including the last two at Bristol Motor Speedway and Martinsville Speedway.

Siemens PLM Software-sponsored race teams won the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Martinsville and Bristol in dominant fashion, taking three of the top four spots and the top four spots, respectively.

Hendrick Motorsports’ driver Jimmie Johnson, a three-time Cup Champion, won the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Martinsville Speedway with Joe Gibbs Racing’s driver Denny Hamlin, who won this race last year, coming in second and Johnson’s teammate Jeff Gordon, a four-time Cup Champion, finishing fourth.

Last week, Joe Gibbs Racing’s driver Kyle Busch, who has won a race in all three of NASCAR's series this season, won the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Bristol Motor Speedway with teammate Hamlin taking second and Hendrick Motorsports’ drivers Johnson and Gordon, finishing third and fourth respectively.

Busch also won the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the third race of the season, and Roush Fenway Racing’s driver Matt Kenseth started the season with back-to-back victories, winning the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway, and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at California at Auto Club Speedway in California. Kenseth became only the fifth driver in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series history to win the first two races of a season.

“Siemens PLM Software congratulates our sponsored race teams for the strong start and we wish the teams good luck in the 2009 season,” said Dave Shirk, executive vice president, Global Marketing, Siemens PLM Software. “Siemens PLM Software is proud of our relationship with the racing teams and is pleased to know that the same seamless, open solutions that help our customers turn more ideas into successful products, are helping the race teams put the best cars out on the race track to finish in the winner’s circle.”
