Delcam to Show Latest PartMaker at mediSIAMS 2009

Delcam will demonstrate the latest release, Version 9.2, of its PartMaker CAM software for turn-mill centres and Swiss-type lathes on Booth A11 in Hall 1 at mediSIAMS 2009 in Moutier, Switzerland. PartMaker is already used by many leading medical and dental manufacturers to program their advanced machine tools and Delcam is certain that the software will attract interest from mediSIAMS visitors that are looking for cost-effective ways to increase their productivity.

Major highlights of the new version include a revamped and more productive user-interface, improved capabilities for programming directly on solid models and the ability to generate automatically descriptive and visual HTML-based set-up sheets.

“The new interface makes PartMaker Version 9 a major release in the development of the product,” says PartMaker Division President, Hanan Fishman. “The mediSIAMS show takes place in the heart of the origins of Swiss machining; a region that can truly benefit from the productivity enhancements PartMaker has to offer. PartMaker is supported locally in this area in French, German, English and Italian, so visitors to the show can be supported in their local language.”

Revamped User Interface

The major highlight of PartMaker Version 9, is a new look user interface featuring, among other improvements, easy-to-use, user-configurable toolbars. Existing icons have been redesigned to make them even easier to understand. The new tool bars, populated by attractive and easy-to-understand icons, make the software faster and more productive for both new and existing users. With the improvements in the user interface, most functions in the software can be accessed with the click of the mouse.

Seamless Solids Programming

PartMaker Version 9 also gives users the ability to carry out programming directly on a solid model. With Version 9, a solid model can be directly integrated into the programming window and toolpaths can be assigned directly to the solid model. Critical manufacturing data is automatically retrieved from a solid model using the new “Extract Parameters from Solids” feature, thus saving time and reducing the chance for error by eliminating redundant data entry. In Version 9, the most commonly-used solids manipulation functions are displayed via an easy-to-follow Solids Toolbar.

Automatic Set-up Sheet Creation

PartMaker Version 9 allows the user to generate automatically very professional setup sheets to improve shop floor documentation. This new feature, available to those users who have licensed the PartMaker Documentation Wizard, can greatly speed up machine setup time by eliminating the sometimes tedious and time-consuming process of creating setup sheets manually and by providing machine operators and set-up personnel with very clear instructions about how to set up a new job. Setup sheets are created in HTML format and can thus be viewed on any computer with an internet browser like Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. The format of the setup sheets generated by PartMaker is fully customizable by the user.

Many PartMaker users report being able to reduce machine setup time by up to 50% versus their previous means of programming by generating accurate CNC programs and visualizing the machining process off-line. By providing even better setup documentation than before, PartMaker users will be able to make even further strides in reducing setup times by providing machine setup personnel with very clear instructions on how to set up the machine to produce a particular part.
