Driving Dimensions for Google SketchUp Public Beta Downloads Top 3,000 in Three Months

LEDAS Ltd released the fourth preliminary version of its Driving Dimensions plugin for Google SketchUp and announced that more than 3,000 copies were downloaded in the first three months since the free public beta was made available in end of October 2008. The plugin is available as a free download at http://www.drivingdimensions.com.

Driving Dimensions plugin offers parameterization tools, which considerably reduce the time required to make parametric changes to the existing 3D models and open new modeling capabilities for SketchUp users. Version 0.4 introduces new types of driving dimensions – distance between a vertex and a face. Advanced treatment of circular arcs (now they are not rigid and can be changed automatically to satisfy driving dimensions) and improved Undo functionality are two other important features of the new version. The new and advanced functionalities of Driving Dimensions 0.4 are demonstrated in several sample models available at www.drivingdimensions.com/SketchUp/samples.php.

“While Driving Dimensions plugin really opens up new possibilities of parametric design in SketchUp, many users still do not see its added value with respect to the built-in tools – Scale, Tape Measure, Dynamic Components,” said Dmitry Ushakov, Director of Product Management, LEDAS Ltd. “To overcome this misunderstanding, we have answered typical questions about Driving Dimensions and put the relevant FAQ at our web site.” More information can be found at http://www.drivingdimensions.com/SketchUp/faq.php.

Driving Dimensions is compatible with Google SketchUp 6 and 7 (both Free and Pro versions) running on Windows 2000/XP/Vista with no specific hardware requirements.
