Russian Shipbuilder SNSP Selects VISTAGY's FiberSIM® Software to Design and Manufacture Composite Hulls for Minesweepers

VISTAGY, Inc. announced that SNSP, a nearly century-old Russian maritime firm that has been a leading producer of minesweepers since 1937, has purchased FiberSIM® composites engineering software to design and manufacture composite hulls, hull spars and supports. SNSP has also purchased VISTAGY professional services for training as well as on-site assistance in developing composites design methodologies.

SNSP chose VISTAGY because of the company’s long, multi-industry experience with composites engineering. The company will be using FiberSIM to design an 80-meter hull. They will use the software to develop layup information and to automate ply information to be sent to cutting and laser positioning machines.

This is VISTAGY’s second recent sale of FiberSIM to a premier shipbuilder. Howaldtswerke-Deutsch Werft GmbH (HDW), a company of the ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, has purchased FiberSIM® software to design and manufacture parts for submarines made of advanced composite materials.

“We’re pleased to partner with SNSP to apply FiberSIM to cutting-edge composite design and manufacturing techniques for producing hulls so the company can meet its aggressive objectives,” said Scott Carlyle, vice president of worldwide sales for VISTAGY. “Working together we will help SNSP achieve cost saving goals by improving the efficiency and productivity of their overall composites development process.”
