ecVision® Further Extends PLM and Supply Chain Capabilities With Develop Module

As retail leaders converge on New York City this week to learn more about operating with greater efficiency after struggling through another Christmas season, ecVision announces the launch of a Develop module for product development and planning to add to its suite of tools for retailers and brands.

Used by sourcing teams, designers, overseas buying offices, suppliers and agents, the Develop module in XpressCommerce® is the latest addition to ecVision's solution that consolidates PDM, PLM and SCE functionality. This module encompasses all aspects of product, material and vendor management. When combined with XpressCommerce's Source, Reserve and Audit modules all functional requirements of PLM and Sourcing business processes for apparel and footwear retailers and private label brands are addressed.

In the Develop module, master data tables connect to serve as the sole source of product information. Linkage between the Master data tables (Model, Color, Pattern, Material & Trim, and Product) provide the information base needed to collaborate with vendors and factories. This data is accessed throughout the lifecycle and keeps the product as the focal point for all future activity. Through integration with design tools, like Adobe® Illustrator, product designs can be imported into XpressCommerce. By unifying all of this key information for retail design, costing, and sampling in a Web-based solution, smarter and more efficient decisions can be made.

"It is important to point out that ecVision is delivering more product features at a time when other PLM providers are merging or acquiring to stay afloat and support the demand for new functionality that addresses the needs of retailers in a single solution," said Thomas Ng, CEO. "We have a strong team of industry experts with real-world experience, enabling ecVision to broaden our solution with a practical business approach leveraging Java and Web Services technology as a focal point."

The module provides integrate to third party design software packages for image manipulation. This functionality allows users to collaborate on images across user roles and mass create product packages from a range of image files (including Adobe and CAD files). The biggest advantage to this level of integration is the ability to work with bandwidth-intensive image files across a globally distributed network. Furthermore, design style information is captured and maintained in a single application to preserve crucial metadata.

Additionally, the Develop module includes:

-- Pages for tech pack and design trim information

   -- Bill of Materials (BOM)

   -- Point of Measurement

   -- Size breakdown

   -- Grading Rule tool

   -- Colorway information

-- Component Cost views down to material & trim level

-- Construction details and directions for the factories

ecVision is rolling out the Develop module in XpressCommerce version 9.2 in February 2010. To learn more about ecVision's solutions, visit http://www.ecvision.com or stop by Booth 2541 at the NRF Big Show.
