TOMRA Systems selects IFS Applications

TOMRA Systems ASA, a leading global provider of recycling systems, has selected IFS Applications, a comprehensive solution that will provide TOMRA with a more effective and more agile supply chain in its manufacturing units (Collection Technology division).

“We focus on a limited number of core processes, several of which are critical to TOMRA, such as the service, supply chain and manufacturing processes.”

IFS Applications will replace TOMRA’s existing business software, which was no longer able to meet the company’s demands for an agile, future-proof industry-specific solution. TOMRA will implement IFS Applications components for financials, sales, purchasing, logistics, customer relationship management and manufacturing.

TOMRA manufactures machines and equipment with short lead times; similar demands on planning and deciding whether to produce via its own operations or through suppliers are critical for optimizing operations. Because a large amount of production is done by suppliers, stable integration solutions with suppliers are central to the success of the company. IFS Applications has a component-based structure that is integration-ready, and offers industry-specific functionality that provides TOMRA with complete control of its operations at all times—regardless of the manufacturing structure.

"We selected IFS because of our positive experience of the company and its solutions, which we already use in our Nordic sales and service organization. Furthermore, the product and the organization made a solid impression on us during the procurement process and introductory workshops. Proximity to the development environment was another important factor in selecting supplier. The new solution will play a very central role in our efforts to reduce costs and streamline production and logistics. We know IFS is a competent, serious player of a size that suits TOMRA and are looking forward to fruitful collaboration in the years to come," said Espen Gundersen, deputy CEO and CFO at TOMRA.

"IFS’ strategy for continued growth means that we focus our product and industry competence on selected areas. The agreement with TOMRA is just one example that confirms this as the right direction to take," said Glenn Arnesen, managing director of IFS Scandinavia. "We focus on a limited number of core processes, several of which are critical to TOMRA, such as the service, supply chain and manufacturing processes."

High-tech manufacturing is one of IFS’ target industries. IFS offers industry-specific solutions manufacturers of electronics, electronic components, mechatronics and semiconductors. IFS’ industry-specific solutions support all processes from engineering and mixed-mode manufacturing to aftermarket sales and warranty management. IFS customers in this segment include Rockwell Automation, NEC Philips Unified Solutions, NEC, Eltek, PartnerTech, Kitron, Maxon Motor and Olympus Optical.
