Tharanco Group to Implement Gerber Technology’s YuniquePLM™
Gerber Technology announced that the Tharanco Group has begun implementation of YuniquePLM at its Greg Norman Collection division. The company expects this product lifecycle management (PLM) solution to streamline the design, product development, and supplier collaboration processes. This will be accomplished by centralizing and making up-to-date product information more accessible thus supporting quicker and better informed decision-making throughout the business. Following successful deployment at its largest apparel unit, the New York-based holding company plans to extend use of the web-based software across its more than 20 apparel brands.
"While we expect PLM to save us time and money, the larger goal for us is to become more accurate and consistent in our product definition," noted Bjorn Bengtsson, Director of Merchandising and Design at Greg Norman Collection. "YuniquePLM makes this possible by putting everything we need in one system. With everything at our fingertips, we will no longer need to search through images, spreadsheets, files, and overloaded email folders to accomplish our work. Both internal teams and our suppliers will benefit from the consistent presentation of accurate, up-to-date product information."
With the goal of implementing across diverse divisions and brands, system platform, scalability, and flexibility were among the key criteria included in the company’s extensive evaluation. According to Rajiv Advani, Tharanco Group Director of Information Systems, "We were attracted to the YuniquePLM Microsoft® .NET framework and browser-based application as they addressed our needs for an economical, easy to use and implement solution that is easy to configure rather than requiring significant customization. From a business perspective, we like how it brings together all the pieces of the product puzzle into a single, centralized process. Once we saw how our designers and developers preferred it, we knew it was the best choice for our business."
"As a manager, I personally like the system dashboard because it gives me an easy-to-understand snapshot of the status of everything we are working on and what needs immediate attention,” added Bengtsson. “It presents information visually to help us run the business at-a-glance."
Design and product development teams are expected to go-live on the new system in about two months. The company plans to add other divisions, team members, and global suppliers in future phases of implementation.
