Heppelmann Appointed to CEO at PTC
PTC announced today (May 10, 2010) that James E. Heppelmann will succeed C. Richard Harrison as PTC’s Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1, 2010. Mr. Harrison will become the company’s Executive Chairman. Mr. Heppelmann, as CEO and President, will report directly to the Board of Directors. CIMdata has followed Mr. Heppelmann’s career within the PLM industry for many years and we are pleased with PTC’s decision. The vision and management leadership that Mr. Heppelmann has provided the company since joining it in 1998 have been exemplary.
CIMdata views Mr. Heppelmann’s appointment to be consistent with PTC’s strategic objective to be a leader in the overall PLM industry. Mr. Heppelmann has been instrumental in defining and driving the company’s evolution from a leading mechanical CAD vendor to one of the world’s leading PLM vendors, and his appointment reiterates PTC’s confidence in both his vision and his ability to lead the company. With him at the helm, we expect PTC to stay at the forefront of the PLM industry and not deviate significantly from the strategic path that he helped define in his previous position as the company’s President and Chief Operating Officer.
