Tata Technologies ‘BETTER INNOVATION on Tour’ Demonstrates Automotive Engineering Innovation in Action

Tata Technologies announced the second segment of “BETTER INNOVATION on Tour,” a multi-state tour that will be highlighted by the showing of the BETTER INNOVATION Nano at each stop throughout the spring.

The tour kicked off in April with visits to a client sites in Illinois and Michigan, including John Deere and Chrysler, and a stop at SAE Headquarters in Warrendale, Penn. This week, BETTER INNOVATION on Tour will visit Case New Holland (CNH), in Illinois, and will close out the week with a May 14 stop at Goodyear Innovation Day, at the Goodyear Innovation Center in Akron, Ohio.

Tata Technologies played a key role in engineering the Nano, which is produced by Tata Motors in India, for the Indian market. The company is using the car to highlight its full-vehicle engineering and design capabilities to clients, engineering students and select automotive and engineering media.

The Nano featured in BETTER INNOVATION on Tour is owned by Tata Technologies and is on loan from its Center for Advanced Engineering and Design in Pune, India. It is the first-ever Nano to be displayed in North America, making its debut at the Tata Technologies BETTER INNOVATION event at the Detroit Science Center on January 14.

“The innovative thinking that brought the Tata Nano to market is symbolic of what Tata Technologies has to offer the automotive industry,” said Warren Harris, Tata Technologies’ President and COO. “Tata Technologies was front-and-center in engineering and developing the Nano; working closely with Tata Motors and with a significant number of the Nano project suppliers.”

Tata Technologies was involved from concept to launch on the Nano project, working on the concept, advanced engineering, body-in-white, interior, exterior and even playing a role in the innovative approach taken to manufacturing.

Tata Technologies contributed to more than 18 patents on the Nano project, according to Ron Bienkowski, Tata Technologies’ Executive Vice President – Marketing and Communications, who is coordinating BETTER INNOVATION on Tour. “Our work on the Nano is part of a sweeping wave of change within the automotive industry – the use of truly global engineering resources.”
