FreeDesign Inc. Awarded 4th Patent for its 3D N-Sided Surfacing Technology

FreeDesign Inc., creators of the 3D surface modeler FreeDimensionT, announced the award of the 4th patent for its curve-based surface modeling technology. Patent # US. 7,636,091 B2 for Computational Geometry Using Control Geometry Having At Least Two Dimensions was confirmed by the US Patent and Trademark office in April 2010.

This latest patent defines how the technology interpolates and blends between geometric objects sufficiently fast so that real-time deformation of 3D objects occurs while data is being input. Using FreeDesign' N-Sided Surfacing technology, as a 3D object is deformed, weighted sums of points in the object immediately blend to form a new, water-tight 3D shape with control handles that can modify the surfaces. In layman' terms, it means a 3D object can be created through the manipulation of an object' curves and vertices with the object' surfaces being updated in real time. Details of this latest patent can be found at http://patft.uspto.gov/.

This patent is applicable to many design domains including consumer packaging, electronic games, toys, automotive and aerospace, clothing and footwear, geological and geographic modeling, and virtual reality and animation.

FreeDesign Inc. currently holds 4 patents for its 3D surfacing technology that allows rapid interactive design and modification of 3D models. Its FreeDimension Modeler has been downloaded more than 5,000 times and features add-on modules for professional industrial designers as well as IGES output.

FreeDesign is working with MS3D Technologies LLC to find new partners and investment capital to realize the company' development goals. Find out more about MS3D Tech at: www.ms3dtech.com.
