Mensch und Maschine Software SE / Open Mind Technologies AG: Mourning the Loss of Werner Schwenkert

  • Founder of MuM subsidiary Open Mind Technologies AG passes away
  • Volker Nesenhöner and Dr. Josef Koch will continue to lead Open Mind

Open Mind and MuM mourn the passing of Werner Schwenkert, who passed away shortly before his 63rd birthday, leaving behind a rich professional legacy.

Werner Schwenkert was the founder of Open Mind Technologies AG (OM) and brought the company into the MuM Group in 2002 by way of an exchange of shares. Since then, OM has been the nucleus of the MuM software segment and has assumed a leading position in the CAM market with a turnover of more than EUR 20 million.

CAM stands for computer-aided manufacturing, meaning manufacturing software that controls precision machine tools for milling and turning complex components and moulds.

“We believe it is incumbent upon us to honour Werner Schwenkert’s life work by moving forward as he would have done,” says MuM CEO Adi Drotleff. “Fortunately, he left behind a well-ordered company, with outstanding products, a solid customer base, highly motivated employees and a very experienced management team that can seamlessly lead the company forward.”

Dipl.-Ing. Volker Nesenhöner is the new CEO of Open Mind AG and will continue to be responsible for worldwide sales. Open Mind co-founder Dr. Josef Koch, who has directed software development right from the beginning of the company and may be regarded as the father of OM technology, has been appointed as Executive Director of Technology. Markus Pech, who represents the “bridge” between OM and the MuM Group, will continue on as CFO. The directors will be supported by Hagen Rühlich (Technical Director), Ines Kaminzky (Marketing), Susanne Weimar (Finances/Admin) and Silvia Wioska (Operations/HR).

Volker Nesenhöner: “All of the members of my management team can look back on several years of employment at Open Mind AG, and they have occupied their current management positions for at least five years. This enables us to guarantee our customers one hundred percent continuity after the tragic passing of our founder.”
